Aaaand we're back. Exam season kicked my ass, but now we're back. This time, it's another music post. I really need to mix it up with these posts, but there's so much nice music to talk about. I've been trying to come up with something compelling for some variety, but my creativity glands appear dried out. Anyway, let's dive right in.
1. tidecruz ft. kaiyko - ashes
Not sure what exactly to refer to this as, perhaps "edgy sad shit" fits, but it's not very descriptive. Regardless, tidecruz is a cool guy - he mostly makes really chill beats that occassionally have some quite busy percussion going on, which I am a fan of. Seldom does he put his voice on a track, and when he does boy is it edgy, but it's always right up my alley. Neat guy.
2. public theatre - sweet dandelion
Comfy alt rock/indie band from Seattle with a pretty classic sound going on. I've been listening to this song a heck of a lot over the past two or three days; it's just got that nice catchy quality. I haven't looked too far into their other songs (read: I hadn't at all before starting this post). Nice tune though.
More edgy shit, but this time, it's the "heck the government" kind of edgy, in emo trap form. Slightly (very slightly) reminiscent of Immortal Technique (with the subject, not the sound at all). This track has a dark, heavy feel to it. I really enjoy the emo vocals they back it up with, they really go well with the kind of beats they make, which are usually melodic strings over some classic trap rhythms. Unique sound from NYC.
Very energetic punk song, again rather edgy. Maybe I should title put "edgy" in the title of this post. You know what I'm going to change the title right now. Okay. Anyway. This song I've been listening to quite a bit over the past... day? Few hours? Yeah. These guys are from Liverpool of all places. I am not a pop-punk fan at all, but this song has kinda dug into me a bit. It's just fun.
Just four tracks this time - I was looking for a fifth and having a bit of trouble, and decided that if I was just trying to fill a spot then it wouldn't be quality. As they say, there's a thing as too much spice. right?
